Prematch.

Hi guys,
I am writing this blog for those people who dont get the proper guidance.Many time ,for IMGs with visa issue the primary goal is to get into a residency program.So,we sometime let ourself exploited by the constraints we are facing.We make our decision based on our prevailing situation.Some of them with good credentials like 90 plus in both step,good communication skill,hard working guys end up taking prematch and settling in a community hospital and making our career a dead end.Many of our dreams of making to desired fellowship is shut tight even before we start our residency.I advocate that people with excellent credential should not go for prematch and wait for the match.Last year statistics show that many internal medicine position went unmatched ,hence i feel that there is no need for candidates to take prematch.
This solely contains my thoughts and not necessarily the right one.IF any body else has anything to sy ,please post so for other benifit

Foreign Graduate Interested in Doing residency in USA

Residency in University Program and Community Hospital

     Academic Places or University program are ideal places to do the residency program, These places were setup in the first place with the intention of educating the medical graduates. They also would like to inculcate in among the residents with sense of academic pursuit. University programs differ greatly from the community program in number of different ways. For one, community programs are setup with the intention of treating patients.
But new ACGME regulation things are changing for better. ACGME is setting strict rules that every residency program has to follow. This has made dramatic changes in programs based in big cities. Work schedule has been streamlined and academics have improved.In the last 5 years I have seen tremendous improvement in residency program in community program. They have become a better place to do residency than the past. I would just encourage the candidates to research thoroughly about the program and find out about them before joining them. I will talk to you about the prematch next time.
